Boy Scouting
National Capital Area Council Boy Scouts of America and the Enterprise District seek Scouts and adults to join them. The district and its committee provide an adventure for each Scout, young and old.
District Committee meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the city gym; District Commissioners meet the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 16621 Sylvan Drive; and the District Roundtable meets the second Tuesday of each month at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Prospect Hill Road, Glenn Dale. The district seeks volunteer adults, sponsorship for new Scouting units and youth who desire to meet the challenge of the Scouting program.

Cub Scouting

Girl Scouting
Ongoing registration is being taken for Girl Scouts and adult leaders kindergarten through high school in the Bowie area. If you are an adult that would like to have a positive impact on girls' lives, or a girl that would like to learn new things, meet interesting people and go on adventures, call 301-638-5373.
Sea Scouts
Sea Scout Ship 1009, which meets Mondays at 7 p.m. at Christian Community Presbyterian Church, is a co-educational branch of the Boy Scouts of America for ages 14-20. As a Sea Scout you will learn how to sail and operate power boats, and become some of the most knowledgeable and skilled people on the water. Most activities are concentrated on the water. Ship activities include weekend cruises, as well as a week long cruise in the summer on the Chesapeake Bay.
There are many events and trips throughout the year and opportunities to compete with other Sea Scouts to show the skills you have learned. Many events teach and focus on nautical skills, leadership, life skills and abilities that are essential to know for boating and water safety. Regattas, white water rafting, kayaking, snow skiing, fishing and sailing clinics and more are featured.
Sea Scout Ship 1009 operates three sail boats, two power cruisers and a fleet of FJ sail boats, two-person racing sail boats that the colleges compete in.

Flag retirement
Boy Scout Troop 1688 collects worn flags at the recycling area behind Free State Shopping Center the first Saturday of each month, rain or shine, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. then disposes of them properly at a campfire.
