Three Bowie students have been awarded scholarships to attend Frostburg State University.
Ikea Fauntleroy
, daughter of Cedric and Crystal Benjamin, was awarded the Academic Honor Scholarship. A 2008 graduate of Bowie High School, she participated in FBLA, was an SGA senator, part of the Step Team and International Dance Team and volunteered as a junior civilian traveling to Ghana, West Africa, in 2006 on a mission to help needy Africans.
Sandra Marsh
, daughter of David and Darline Marsh, was awarded the Academic Excellence Scholarship. A 2008 graduate of Bowie High School, she participated in Prince George's County Academic Honor Roll, writes for her school newspaper, is active as an art club member, serving as fund-raising coordinator, participates in martial arts, kung fu classes and volleyball and is involved in community service at Bowie Adult Day Care Center. She also helped serve food at a Community for Creative Nonviolence homeless shelter in Washington, D.C.
Michael Stevenson
, son of David and Pamela Stevenson, was awarded the University Scholarship. A 2008 graduate of Bowie High School, he was a member of the National Honor Society, was a Dartmouth Book Award recipient, Maryland Distinguished Scholar, AP Scholar and received a Maryland General Assembly Student Excellence Award. He played varsity tennis, basketball and volunteers at the city gym for basketball tournaments.

Prince George's County Executive Jack Johnson's nominees for the Agricultural Preservations Advisory Board, the Board of Library Trustees and the Park and Recreation Advisory Board were recently confirmed.
Gregory Huckstep
of Bowie was confirmed to the Park and Recreation Advisory Board. A senior business process engineer for Data Networks Corp., he is a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in biology, and received a master's degree in public policy and management from Carnegie Mellon University. He will serve as a central area representative.
Mark Polk
of Bowie was confirmed to the Board of Library Trustees. A 23-year veteran of the Prince George's County Police Department, he is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University with bachelor's and master's degrees in business management. He has a juris doctorate from the University of Baltimore, School of Law.
