Edward Angier
Edward Herbert Angier of Palm Harbor, Fla., and formerly of Bowie and Crofton, died May 18 at his home. He was 75.
Mr. Angier was born Dec. 14, 1932, in Framingham, Mass. He was a 1950 graduate of Cleawater High School, Florida, and graduated from Rollins College, Winter Park, Fla., in 1954.
Mr. Angier served in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant commander. The family was stationed in the Orient for eight of his 20 years of service. After retiring from the Navy he was a real estate agent in Bowie/Crofton for 15 years.
Mr. Angier had been a member of Church of the Redeemer in Bowie, and of Presbyterian Church of Palm Harbor. He sang with the Bowie Knights of Harmony and enjoyed music comedy. In his retirement, Mr. Angier enjoyed travelling.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Carol Angier; two sons, Kenneth Angier of Palm Harbor and Bruce Angier of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Wendi Paterno of Bowie; three grandsons and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held in Florida. Burial will be Aug. 20 at 3 p.m. in Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Moss Feaster Funeral Home, Palm Harbor.

Jane Burke
Jane M. Burke, a 40-year resident of Bowie, died June 7 at her home. She was 74.
Mrs. Burke was born April 9, 1934 in Pennsylvania.
She had worked at the Bowie Library, from which she retired three years ago.
Survivors include her former husband, Richard E. Burke of Bowie; four sons, Daniel Burke of Bowie, Shawn Burke of Arnold, Kerry Burke of Upper Marlboro and Jonathan Burke of Neenah, Wis.; a daughter, Julie Burke of Riva; a sister, Evelyn Hyatt of Vero Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and longtime companion, Charles Siegman.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Paul's on the South River, 3027 Riva Road, Riva.

Robert Eckert
Robert Edward Eckert of Fort Myers, Fla., and formerly of Bowie died June 14 at a Hospice House in Fort Myers. He was 74.
Mr. Eckert was born June 20, 1933, in Sioux City, Iowa. After graduating from the University of Iowa, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he was trained to be a linguist in Russian and Polish. He studied at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, Calif. After leaving the Navy, he worked for the National Security Agency until retiring in 1988.
He was a member of St. Hilary's Episcopal Church, Fort Myers, Fla. A member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Society of American Magicians, Mr. Eckert performed magic for children in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Mae Howard Eckert whom he married June 26, 1960; two sons, Mark H. Eckert of Laurel and Paul R. Eckert of Kensington; a daughter, Kim E. Goering of Jupiter, Fla.; a brother, Richard A. Eckert of Sioux City; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Hilary's Episcopal Church.
Benjamin Nicholson
Benjamin Thomas Nicholson Jr. of Annapolis died unexpectedly June 9 at home. He was 79.
Mr. Nicholson was born July 4, 1928, in Mitchellville.
He worked at the Naval Ordinance Laboratory in Silver Spring, and later was self-employed as a plumber.
During World War II, he served in the Navy aboard a destroyer.
He was a member of the Kent Island American Legion Post, and enjoyed fishing, hunting and vegetable gardening.
Survivors include three sons, David A. and Douglas Nicholson of Lehigh Acres, Fla., and Donald Nicholson of Bowie; three daughters, Dianne Mimms of Greensboro in Caroline County, Della Musselman of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Debbie Nicholson of Denton; two sisters, Mae Brady of Edgewater and Barbara Nicholson of Maryland; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Marie Nicholson.
Services were held at Kalas Funeral Home, Edgewater, with burial in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

Eric Thiel
Eric James Thiel of Bowie died unexpectedly June 10 at his home. He was 46.
Born Oct. 16, 1961 in Washington, D.C., he grew up in Bowie. He began his career at the David Taylor Research Center as a mechanical engineer. He eventually became specialized in acoustics working on submarines and buoys for the Navy, working and traveling mostly to Okinawa, Japan and Hawaii.
Survivors include four children, Amber, Jonathan, Madeline and Holly, and their mother, Denise; his parents, Floyd and Ruth Thiel of Friendship; and two brothers George Thiel of Wilmington, N.C., and Mark Thiel of St. Louis, Mo.
A memorial service was held at Christian Community Presbyterian Church. Arrangements were by Evans Funeral Home.

Warren Wiedmaier
Warren "Weedy" George Wiedmaier of Bowie died unexpectedly June 10 at home. He was 51.
Mr. Wiedmaier was born June 21, 1956 in Norfolk, Va. He graduated high school.
He was a retired stonemason from Local 2, Washington, D.C., and was an auto mechanic at the Route 3 Shell service station. He enjoyed fixing cars, and antiques.
He is survived by a daughter, Ashley Wiedmaier of Dumfries, Va.; four brothers, Dale Wiedmaier of Norfolk, James, Ollie and C. George Wiedmaier, all of Bowie; and four sisters, Virginia DiNardo of Sarasota, Fla., Norma Kellogg of Marshall, Va., Susan Wiedmaier of Detroit, Mich., and Shirley Grant of Interlaken, N.Y. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Evelyn Wiedmaier.
Services were held at Beall Funeral Home, with burial in Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville.
